Frontend Infrastructure

Over the past year, the Frontend Infrastructure team has worked to develop various websites within the Data Science at Berkeley community. A few of these websites include DataConnect, Data.berkeley, and Data8.org. Be sure to check out some of our projects below for more information!

Backend Infrastructure

For the past semester, Backend Infrastructure has been working towards Jupyter Hub integration with bCourses/Canvas, and the DSEP Infrastructure Roadmap.

Projects

TextXD

One of the BIDS pages we worked on this semester was the page for TextXD. TextXD aims to foster cross-pollination among researchers who work with natural language data, whether they identify as computer, social, data, or information scientists, including linguists.

Connector Pages

As new connectors are introduced each semester, new connector pages must be made! The connector pages developed by the Frontend Infrastructure team give detailed descriptions of the connector courses that will be offered each semester.

Jupyterhub Integration with bCourses/Canvas

Allow for students and instructors to use existing campus course infrastructure like bCourses. Such integration will allow for a streamlined workflow for both instructors and students.

DSEP Infrastructure Roadmap

A comprehensive analysis and long term planning for the Berkeley Data Science Education Program's Stack. The goal is scale up the cloud Jupyterhub infrastructure for all UC Berkeley students, improve integration with existing platforms such as Google Drive, bCourses, and ensure a high quality user experience.
